Teaching Experience: In 2002, I began teaching 4th grade for 2 years with Hays CISD at Kyle Elementary. I have spent the past 14 years with McKinney ISD at Minshew Elementary teaching 3rd grade for 4 years and recently McGowen Elementary teaching 5th grade for 7 years. This will be my 16th year in education and my 3rd year as a 6th grade Math Teacher at Dowell Middle School.
Education Qualifications: I graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 2002, now currently called Texas State University where I continued earning my Master's degree in 2004, in San Marcos, TX and now hold a Master's Degree in Education, Specializing in Curriculum and Instruction.
My Beliefs: My mission is to foster lifelong, independent learners. I am a teacher who is avid about what I do. Math is my passion, period. I love to help others, who don't enjoy math, to understand that it can be challenging, at times, yet fun and enjoyable. I am spunky, energetic and often sarcastic. I like to have fun, but at the same time I am disciplined and have high expectations for all of my students, and they will see both sides of me. I am an excellent listener and want my students to feel comfortable in my class. I will do anything I can to make the transition to 6th grade as easy as possible!

Family Life: I grew up in Buda, just south of Austin, TX. I played golf, was on drill team, and graduated high school in 1994. I attended Texas Tech University, Austin Community College and graduated from Texas State University in 2002. It was there in San Marcos, in 2001, that I met my husband, Matthew. Together, we moved to the Dallas area in 2004, but recently moved from Plano to McKinney. We are so excited to finally reside in the best city in America!
We married in 2006 and have two handsome sons, Justis, who is 11, extremely genuine has a huge heart, an amazing soccer player and is a 5th grader. My baby boy Jamison, is 7, has an animated personality, plays soccer, loves boxing and karate and in 1st grade. All three of my boys are the absolute joys of my life and we love to live life by putting family first. |
